Nature, Predictors, and Outcomes of Workers’ Longitudinal Workaholism Profiles

This research relies on a combination of variable- and person-centered approaches to help improve our understanding the dimensionality workaholism construct. Our results showed that employees’ ratings simultaneously reflected global overarching construct co-existing with four specific dimensions (behavioral, motivational, emotional, cognitive workaholism) among sample 432 workers who completed questionnaire twice over three-month period. We also examined profiles taken by dimensions, documented their stability time as well associations between these theoretically-relevant predictors outcomes. Furthermore, we whether differ function working remotely or onsite. Four were identified found be highly stable time: Unplugged, Plugged In, Moderately Unplugged Externalized Workaholism, Cognitive Workaholism. Personal life orientation, telepressure, interpersonal norms regarding work-related messages related likelihood profile membership. Remote reinforced positive effects personal orientation negative messages. Finally, work-to-family guilt, job satisfaction, family satisfaction differed profile.
